hello there friend.

here you will find the chronicles of a curious girl.

arriving in ancient Athens

arriving in ancient Athens

After our time spent in Rome, we boarded an early (but cheap) flight to Athens where we met a very familiar face-our mom! A few weeks ago, my adventurous mother decided she wanted to come join us in Greece for a few days and of course we were happy to have her come along with us. We just spent one day and night in Athens before boarding a flight to Santorini, but it was truly a unique city to visit!

Upon our arrival to Athens, the first thing I noticed is that the Greek language is so different and far more confusing than the languages in any other country I've visited. I have 0 clue what the signs I am reading say. Aside from the confusing language, I quickly realized Athens is a chaotic hub of color, character, and culture.

Throughout the congested yet seemingly quaint streets, you find an abundance of shops, handmade goods, and every type of restaurant imaginable. Along with the older architecture in the central area, Athens is colorful with splashes of graffiti and flowers everywhere. My favorite thing of all about Athens may just have to be the immense number of cats there! They are all so so cute!

During our day in Athens, we visited the Acropolis, wandered around downtown, and had an authentic Greek meal which was delicious! I still an unable to imagine just how old the ancient ruins are and it blows my mind to even try to think about.

Oh yeah! Another reason I loved Athens is because of its ridiculous amount of coffee shops. I love coffee, so maybe Greece is the right place for me. All I know is that I am looking forward to another week here in this beautiful place! Next stop--Santorini!
